This is a well thought out rundown of the issues. I have a similar frustration as Filippo here in that my once very obscure and relatively academic obsession is now subject to *market forces* and *politics*. So I see statements like "these are useless" and, foolishly, take them literally.

This sentiment is almost entirely grassroots, so it's not like some consultant is going to whisper in someone's ear and be like, "you should stop making specific, and likely incorrect, claims about the technology. they will age badly, if they are even true now. try to fix the actual impact."
