Our education system is so riven with this kind of nonsense and it is guaranteed to produce increased stress for pupils and limit their horizons throughout their lives. Personally I took great delight in telling my History students that I dropped History as a subject at age 13.
It is easier and cheaper though, if you can stay on the fast moving factory conveyor belt that’s our schooling system.
