Yep, you need to stand close up to realise just what enormous machines they are. Where I grew up, I was close to a major RAF base with annual airshows, long before health & safety. I got to see, hear, touch and feel a lot of these aircraft in the 70s. Lightning, full afterburner takeoff.. wow!!

As a kid the CF-101 was a staple at our air shows, a pair would always come across the runway low and with full afterburner and it was incredible!
