Or, and I know this is a wild thought, maybe access to health care shouldn't be dependent on your employer.
A new approach to employer health care? Give workers money to buy their own plan
Some companies are trying something new: Instead of offering a group health insurance plan, they're giving workers a contribution to buy their own individual plans.
This seems like something that should be an option, but not the only option.
Or, you know, universal healthcare.
I basically have said this when calling my state reps. It would be cheaper for the state to stop paying hundreds a month to insurance, which I can't afford to use because of the high deductible, and just give people the money. Then we could get care and health care workers could get paid more.
