In 2008, Barack Obama had 6 years more experience in government than Donald Trump has in 2024. Many of the people who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 thought one of Obama's great problems was that he wasn't experienced enough.
Like Vance, Palin had extensive ties to the far right that were woefully under covered by the press. If anything, Palin's ties were less troubling because she wasn't nearly as systematic an illiberal thinker as Vance is. bsky.app/profile/seth...

The press (along with Harris & Walz) was treating JD Vance as questionable right up until he went full racist militant against Haitian immigrants; suddenly all of that stopped and he began being treated much more seriously, both by the press & the Harris campaign. I'm really curious why.
