I think the political benefit is more meaningful right now in the midst of all of this GOP misinfo on Helene; also, the most likely scenario is that Johnson doesn't actually call the House back from recess, and then they get to hit Republicans over that without having to actually go to DC at all

And especially when the entire House and one third of the Senate is in the election home stretch
