22. Small Rain by Garth Greenwell. Greenwell is one of the best writers out there right now, and this book devastated and triggered me. In 2020 , a 40-something gay male finds himself in the hospital with a mysterious condition and reflects on his life and love for his Andaluz bf.
The sequel The Only Light Left Burning came out earlier this summer if you didnāt know.

21. The The Sparsholt Affair by Alan Hollinghurst. Not Hollinghurst's best work...kinda well written mediocrity that failed to connect with me. Read his other stuff instead.
