Only in the bedroom ;-)
Turns out not Uncle but Great Grandad.
OK. Couple more Photographs I have found of Ernest if you want to use them. First pix he is on the left. Second picture on the right, Knightstone HArbour meeting HRH Duke of Kent, he was in the lifeboats at Weston Super mAre. last pix shows ernest with my Granddad on his lap. Note the dress..poor.
What do I have to do ?
I’m fed up with people pointing out all the mistakes in my poetry so I’ve written them this poem; it’s called ‘Pedant’s’.
The family thinks he was in South Africa..then left army. Invited to rejoin when WW1 start or spend some time at the Kings pleasure ;-). But thats just family chatter. Medals were probably pawned and then scrapped. Died at Hill 60, 1915.
Thanks for that. I wonder if they are still out there???. On another note, my Great Grandfather on my Dad's side died in WW1. He was in the Glosters. I saw his medals once star, bwm and VM. But some say he might of been in the Boar War and those are missing. How do I find out ?
Of course :-) No worries. I might be able to find a photograph of him as well. Do you have the ability to search medal records ? Nothing major, just did he have any others. :-)
@jutlandremembered.bsky.social Just found this old medal that was my Great Great Uncles. Turns out he was at Jutland like many others. Dont know if he had any more medals, I guess the BWM an VM are missing in action
