Amaryllis attended her first SFS meeting in Detroit in 2018 and joined the SRC following last year's meeting in Brisbane! Fun fact: Amaryllis has been to 46 states as of going to Maine on Monday!
Anna attended her first SFS in 2017 (Raleigh NC) to present her undergraduate research. After getting involved with the SRC following that first meeting, she served as co-president last year. Fun Fact: Anna has had dinner with Jane Goodall!!
Sarah joined the SRC after her first SFS meeting. She joined the DEI committee because she deeply cares about creating inclusive spaces in STEM! After 2 years, she switched to the mentor mixer event committee! Fun Fact: Sarah failed forklift training when she worked in industry
STREAM is a newly up and coming group within SFS formed by Emerge Alumni dedicated to continuing the meaningful connections and community built during students and early career fellowship.
Jamie Bucholz and her lab have nominated Amblema elliottii, an at-risk mussel species in Alabama. This is the first time a freshwater mussel has been entered into the competition and it would be a huge genomic resource for mussel (and freshwater) folks!!
The winning mollusc is chosen through a public vote, and the “prize” includes complete genome sequencing of the species by LOEWE-TBG. Be sure to cast your vote!!
