His "response" is disturbing and sadly not surprising, but why doesn't the moderator then respond, you didn't answer the question and repeat the exact question again?
While in college I was a pub trivia fact checker and also paid by the question. If the players discovered a technicality issue in the Q or A, the next morning I'd get angry email from the boss. Not on my resume but came in handy for an interview fun fact.

Librarian here... People of Utah who support this legislation do you understand that libraries and their staff make recommendations but don't force books on patrons of any age. If you oppose materials for yourself or your children then, choose something else.
