So Birmingham Hospitals was "at full capacity" earlier this week with risks to #patientsafety - but no incident was declared - yet it told consultants they had to give up their SPA time to help move patients through the hospital. SPA time is short for 'supporting professional activties'

Interesting. The new hospital and system is based on community care flow as much as hospital flow, but community care isn't quite ready for that kind of demand. Do we know if these are related?

Given that a job plan is part of a consultants contract they can ask consultants to swap spa for Dcc but they can not mandate it. Suggesting that full capacity is anything other than normal working, that should be planned for, is disingenuous

Is this because the new hospital in Sandwell has less capacity than the ones it is replacing?
