Right? I've been trying to find out if my grandfather was a citizen - he came as a kid the year before there was an immigration law. I guess u just showed up at a courthouse and they said ok. From what I can tell there are no federal records of it

Uh - and in his field, these accomplishments a decade into a career are probably matched or exceeded by the competition in prominent universities.
And if they were worried about the economic strain of fewer young people working they'd tax their capital gains and support a VAT system to get the benefit of productivity gains
