It really is. The absolute saddest part is that *personally*, she remained warm, kind, generous, accepting, etc... but her politics, always on the conservative-leaning side of the center, fell into the right-wing abyss. I just can't wrap my mind around HOW.

Yeah, this person is really smart as well as kind and compassionate. It makes me afraid for anyone if he could go that way.
