It's funny because I got this idea of 'reduction' from preparing sauces for food. Like how a sauce is boiled or simmered until it reaches its desired consistency and flavor.
It helps with writing and editing, too. Our brains start to skim information they are familiar with. Walk away a week, come back, and suddenly edits will start highlighting themselves - waiting to be cleaned up and streamlined.
