Bats can get in via window ac units, or through insufficiently blocked window gaps left when installing them. They also often come in via fireplace flues.
I grew up in the country where every house had a fireplace, and I did not know of a single household in our neighbourhood, including my own, that did NOT get a bat-through-chimney event.
