Just published in Environmental Science & Technology Letters, we found that fluoropolymers (and non-fluorinated polymers!) can be sources of PFAS, including ultra-short chain PFCAs like TFA, PFPrA, and PFBA. doi.org/10.1021/acs....

This work can explain some sources of TFA that impact lab contamination, may point to additional sources in the environment, and in general, emphasizes the need for further studies, and for them to always include TFA and PFPrA!
