At the time the fascists in question were in Europe but good Communists and sympathetic progressives worldwide were against fighting them. Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger were singing peace songs and everything.
I’ve never heard Stalin described as ‘good’, and the Von Ribbentrop pact was two evil men carving up the world, not ‘leftists’ deciding not to fight. Guthrie had no idea what he was talking about.
