A long time ago (20 years or more?) I read a study where writers who wrote for money wrote worse than writers who wrote for creativity. IIRC, the study gave the same writing prompt to many writing students. 1/2 were told they'd be paid if good enough, 1/2 weren't. $$ resulted in worse quality.

Here's a thought. Particularly the idea that this person is behaving in a way that suggests he is a threat to himself or others. Of course, if nobody gets this done before the election, I suspect his VP will make sure it happens after--if the unthinkable happens and he is elected president.
