At the time this man (who also consistently misspells Margaret Stillwell’s name) wrote this in 1937 about “how few women are interested in bibliography,” women were heading the collections of Morgan, the Grolier Club, the Annmary Brown at Brown, the Chapin at Williams… to name but a few 🙄
A woman was the head cataloger of the most important American rare book dealing firm. Women were about to start their own Hroswitha Club because they were EXCLUDED from the Grolier. There are only three women in this “bio-bibliography of book collecting.”
To be fair to whoever this is, he couldn't spell Lathrop Harper either.
