hey, the battery I took out of a thing today has one of the powerchecks on it! And it's new! (Date on it: use by 2031.) I wonder if the UK kept them? I think they're a little useful because you can work out, when your thing with 4 batteries in dies, which ones are dead? Although they maybe all are.

I think if they've been discontinued in the UK it must have been in the last few years, they're still on sale in some places and I've seen some with a use by date of 2033 so presumably manufactured recently.
