I think there is some truth in that, I see an awful lot of learning disability organisations whose predominant voice is not learning disabled. Particularly in education / policy. See some better examples of self advocacy in the charitable sector. Feels like we are still stuck in a 1980’s playground.

I'm learning it's a complicated space. Within learning disability communities there are disagreements as to what it constitutes and concerns about appropriation. Sadly it feels even organisations for those with learning disabilities aren't guaranteed to be safe spaces for them.
