I'm on the fence if it's fair to bring Shopify into this. On the one hand hate speech is absolutely unacceptable. On the other hand, we don't want our employers saying what we can or cannot donate our salary to.

Executives set the culture of the company. Restrictions on them are compensated in their outrageous salaries.

I agree with you but execs are not the same as employees. They have significant power over the direction and values of a company.
