More winter-growing #succulents waking up. 📷🪴

Tylecodon sinus-alexandri x schaeferianus. This was a multi-branched bushy plant when I got it from C&D Plants and then it was nearly killed by an unexpected frost. One stem survived, at least.
Tylecodon wallichii. This is an old one, maybe about 8 yo. The new growth is less than 1 cm at this point but they grow to be 6 to 10 cm long.
Tylecodon tuberosus. The plant is about 4 cm tall, very knobby.
Monilaria moniliformis. This one woke up very early, probably because of an unusually long period of high humidity just as temperatures were coming down.

Winter, yay! We are waking up! #succulents 📷🪴 The eponymous Tylecodon singularis, first leaves.

T. singularis isn't supposed to have more than one leaf. This plant (4 yo, grown from seeds), has just been repotted from it's sow-pot. It could be thriving, it could be dying--a flush of growth sometimes happens as a result of trauma, in this case being repotted. To be furthered.

You will fall many times in life, from the cat figure-eighting around your ankles. You will pick yourself up and trip trying to avoid crushing a tail. You and your cat will level up for each trouble and the boss fight will be harder. Then the cat will nap on your neck and all is better than before.

I think this is the second time I am recommending this to someone here: Irish Spring original scent, sliced into crumbles. Mammals--both prey and predators--are disorientated by the odor. Made squirrels give up the outdoor succulent area where bald spots were freshly replanted.

Ever set down a pot of plant and wondered months later where it went? lol

Hand-pollination, haworthia. #haworthia#succulents#macrophotography 📷🪴 Plenty of time for one or all three to abort.

Picture of a seed pod of a haworthia cultivar named "Evening Glow" (don't know the base species) and a H. sprongbokvlakensis cultivar named Crystal Ball. Out of over 20 attemps, only one succeeded.
In reverse, two seed pods of Crystal Ball and Evening Glow.

BUT, you have to slowly get them used to the sun. Let the soil dry before you water again. Succulents will let you err on "too dry", but not when too wet for too long. The powdery bit on the leaves--totally normal. Check this encyclodepia, hold on to your wallet. www.llifle.com/Encyclopedia...

Ah..now, this is going to be a rabbithole, bear with me. Your plant is one of three things--echeveria, graptopetalum or graptoveria. Ideally, you want to grow them outdoors--humidity and stale air stresses them a bit. Otherwise, they are fairly tolerant of heat, full sun and even wet soil.

Everyone who isn't Ed Witten just have to put in the work so we can eventually rock it. If she loves it, she will get to realizing she's absolutely nailing it.
