Increasingly when journos with a lot of name recognition announce the launch of their substack it’s like “oh lord, what did you do”
a lot of americans just seem to believe, to their bones, that nothing truly bad could ever happen to them, and so their choices don’t really matter
Count me also as unimpressed with the moral and philosophical incoherence of people who insist on asking “does calling Amy Wax a bigot chill speech” but steadfastly refuse to acknowledge the question “does a professor saying black and Asian people don’t belong here chill speech.”

I would love to believe this idea but it reminds me too much of the changes I thought would come after the 2015 secret wars event, which turned out to be almost nothing except a lot of new number 1s. (I loved the event itself, though.)
They just seem to think "Poof! It's gone. Things were better when I was a kid". & it's like "you know there's a reason that thing you love went away, right? It's called a hedge fund". Or, "yeah that guy you voted for deregulated your favorite things out of existence while also fucking your paycheck"
