I had 21k followers when I stopped using it and came here in April 2023. I had been on Twitter for 13 years at that point. I’ve been here a year and a half and have 13k so…I’m growing the account here way faster than I did there

I don’t really grasp the utility of followers in the first place, other than in a general “more is better” sense.

I’ve got a long way to go, but I’m deeply suspicious of my follower count in The Bad Place. A huge number must have been bots, and countless others inactive. The one thing that really, really hurt was the dramatic loss of traffic and revenue to my Etsy shop. It’s looking like a 2nd year in the red.

I deleted my 25k account on Twitter last August and you know what, I’d rather have my 2k ish account here anytime. It was like ending a bad relationship and I’m glad I’m done with it.

Same! It took me 5 years to get to 10k on twitter. Here. Much faster.

But also, follower count is not that important and we truly need to get over ourselves. I’m usually not saying anything other ppl don’t or can’t say. And neither are most people. Quality of experience, values, and things like, you know, how many real humans interested in engaging follow, matter too!
