I definitely agree, and as someone who has worked a WorldCon (Chicago, 2021) I possibly understand more than the average SF/F fan about how separate the con committees for different WorldCons really are. But I know that not everyone will have that insight and may need extra reassurance along the way
That's basically what I felt-- a good start, though they'll have some work ahead of them to continue showing transparency and earning fans' good faith back.
I'm thinking they'll have some work to do in showing fans they are genuinely trying their best to be fair and transparent, but I think the thread following this post is at least a good start.

But my point is that people did have his back then, just not enough to actually get rid of McCarty and since everything was and is volunteer, it's hard to "fire" people.
Yeah. I mean, not to belittle the racism issue, which is not insignificant, but my partner did and does still have a lot of good friends in fandom, even though we're both kinda retired from working cons; and he's got a lot of respect from most of the fans since he's, you know, competent (lolsob).
