Unless things change politically, that 10k heat fatality event will be in Texas and it will happen in multiple cities simultaneously. I really hope I’m wrong.

The power grid being what it is, plus politics, plus power hungry data centers? I forget the specific terms but I vaguely remember learning enough about it over the last winter that it seemed ripe for collapse.
Honestly I worry about the dry south AND Texas so so much. I'm in northern CA and my life is very different than 15 years ago, but dramatically different than when I was a kid. We are effed, but they are moreso and have no one who has their back. No good very bad future. Ugh.

One of the big issues with Texas being their own grid is that they can't get support from out of state generation for failure events. If a hurricane smashes 15% of their generation offline during a high humidity heat wave, we're going to see bodies in the streets.
