For those of us who work in the entertainment industry, this is the dumbest and most baffling thing about all the hype around generative AI nonsense. AI can’t take notes. Like, 90% of our jobs is getting paid to do all the notes from people who can’t do what we do.

Honestly, it just feels like further proof that oftentimes the people giving us notes are overestimating their communications abilities, don't fully understand what they're asking us to do, and don't understand what we've done to achieve their goals after they've given us those notes.

What an AI does with bad notes is the thing that’s really unsettling. Just load all of those “unlikables” and “can we get there faster” and we wind up with mr rogers on a crotch rocket

Well, if we replace all the execs with AI...

I once had a note that said "This scene doesn't leave me emotionally satisfied." What would AI do to fix it?

I just got done doing an edit for a client that was so vague, I spent two days trying to brainstorm what they could possibly mean and how to make the edit work in the current composition.

The people who's job used to create this stuff will now have the job to touch up AI-generated shit and will be paid less for it. As a translator, that's where I've been for the last decade.

In fairness, AI would be the perfect tool if the notes were something like "this needs to be 50% more racist" or "we want this biopic to be the least accurate depiction possible"

I don't remember who it was, but there was a guy who was an art director, and Management had hired AI prompt-dudes instead of artists. Dude decided, instead of complaining, to treat them exactly like artists. Which means all of the feedback and notes as normal. It was a (hilarious) shit-show.

Literally one of the main parts of the professional creative process is taking notes from the client, communicating with them on which can work & which may not, then delivering new comps for review And AI can't do that Amazing to see how poorly designed it is for a supposed replacement for artists

AI does all the transcription now on my side of tv, and it's frigging USELESS.
