This is a after/before picture of Chimney Rock, NC. The rainwaters of Hurricane Helene caused the Broad River Dam to overflow and flooded the town, taking it out. My family (inc. parents) in the area are okay but cut off. They are nervous that the dam is about to break, taking Lake Lure with it
Meanwhile, one of the two credible candidates for premier of British Columbia - the other of whom is the incumbent - said that he regretted getting the "so-called" COVID vaccine. I don't think his party - which is also famous for climate change denial - will earn my support. Election is in 24 days.
