That’s interesting, this is such a matter of taste. I find the original Blade Runner so (purposefully) garish as to be hard to look at.
The Midwest. All the commentators were like, "Wow, they were so civil!" and I could not believe none of them were twigging to the constant use of Weaponized Politeness the region is so known for. They were vicious.
I get that. In theory I know the "correct" definition of nonplussed, but I have literally never figured out an occasion to use it that way.
At the same time, we have so many words for bigness and not quite so many for momentousness, so I get the impulse to want to reserve terms for the latter.
