unfortunately I've seen black people do it too (notably Eric Adams and also the DC democratic party trying to cling for dear life to their 90% vote share.) The interests of entrenched parties are a hell drug. How Bowser & co swallow that racist pill I have no idea. At least Adams is... like that.

the truly unreasonable thumpiness of the step sound effect is so powerful

Fascinating side-note: in S. Korea the reverse is happening alarmingly fast, where men actually are swinging right hard

he's a total supplicant. a man of high regard and low character. will never forget the reporters and pundits who told me this guy was a "moderate" while he ran the most race-baiting campaign in modern virginia history

to play the limpest possible devil's advocate some people's definition of "game" requires a win condition (these people are still wrong but at least they're just being annoyingly pedantic and not trying to actively gatekeep)

Agreed! I interacted with them in high school (almost 10 years ago now, jfc i feel old) and even then they were starting to skeev me out by their absolutism. I'm sad but not surprised to see their message got co-opted by the same conservative culture brainrot that generates abusers structurally

I will say that I would absolutely love to keep recieving various union news articles linked in the feed, written by you or otws. Alternatively, you could go full twitter and longpost with some sort of automated threadifier, which I'd also happily read

I agree with this. I think you can actually make a good case that the US democratic party is in many respects more progressive than its peer center-left parties.

I am really suspicious of that middle point whenever it comes up. To me it mostly seems to be giving non-US center-left parties credit for decades-old welfare state policies which they passively support. I doubt 2024 Labour, for example, would create the NHS if it didn't already exist.
