Hardware shops are the sole retail experience where I want staff immediately coming to me before I browse and, thanks to Bunnings, it is one of the few chains where it doesn't happen

I do, though not online. I don't think there's much that can be done about it. There have been at least a couple of fairly serious tries at challenging Bunnings and they've crashed and burned. Here in WA there are a few Bunnings stores that still wear the insignia of the pretender (Hardware House).

It's fairly common in more regional areas. But everyone still goes there too.

I have done, in the past, not on social media though. I preferred our local Mitre 10. But Bunnings put them out of business.
