I’d say that the AAA game industry is certainly in a low point, but indie and AA games have never been better. If you’re craving a game that’s like some AAA title from over a decade ago, in all likelihood there’s an indie game out or in development that’s supposed to be a spiritual successor to it.

Some examples being “Dying Breed” for Command & Conquer, “Rogue Flight” for Star Fox 64, or “V. A. Proxy” for basically any DMC style hack n slash.
