i've always thought it cool that proper debate does not require an audience or even a second person, merely the willingness to shed past selves like a snakeskin

I really think we need a different word for the 50% of "journalism" that's just copying from police press releases or laundering opinions about current events. We're always getting mad at people whose sole job is farming attention for not also unbiasedly informing the public.

impossible choice

3 floating CG objects, an iPhone, set of keys, and a teddy bear. A cursor floats nearby. Text: Choose Talisman. Your decision will affect certain
aspects of your journey going forward. Choose carefully!
The cursor hovers over the keys. Text: Possibility, mystery, intelligence, trust.
Snap! The sound of the last puzzle piece, finding its jagged home. A chord plucked by you alone, resourceful, singular, cerebral.
Is it a song you know?
The cursor hovers over the bear. Text: Bear. Childhood, nostalgia, comfort, dreams.
Do you long for whimsy, tea parties, and carefree spring days? Warm blankets in a cool room? A peck on the cheek? It can all be yours.
Now it hovers over the phone. Text: Phone. Bejeweled 2, maintenance man texts, 10 billion bacteria, anguish.
Feel bad in a new way every day. Stretch the contours of your ape brain over sharp corners it was never meant to understand.

imagining the 50 state sweep if a Presidential candidate said "me so stinky" in a Jar Jar Binks voice

I can not wait for the "ironic music over no-longer-actually-shocking slow-motion violence" trend to die. At least in the Fargo tv show it's unlikely to happen more than once an episode. It's literally a third of this movie.

Finally watched this movie. It doesn't do anything that Garland didn't already do better in 28 Days Later, just mashed up with Nightcrawler and any random army movie. Very tame violence, very little commentary about civilian life in a war zone. Forgettable tbh.

I feel very angry all the time and one thing that makes me even more angry is that I have to perform “normalcy” and a lack of anger to keep my job and maintain day to day whatever and bc I have to do that it’s possible that some ppl around me have thought “oh she’s doing so much better” and maybe
