That’s concerning, to say the least. I recall Paul Martin making CPP changes designed to make that program sustainable with an ageing population, but I guess the same kind of levers weren’t possible for a program that doesn’t have direct contributions.

When boomers were young there were 7 working-age CDNs for every retiree. Now in retirement, boomers want the same/better supports when there are just 3. Past gov found it politically inconvenient to ask boomers to build a surplus. So current gov now inherit the problem. Deficits are the outcome.
