you'll say "it never wins elections!" you are correct. "republicans attack on it and it never works out for them for elections, frequently not even in the south" again, you are correct. but "it doesn't work" and "it isn't popular" aren't what matters here in the dem consultant/strategist world
yep. what matters is that enough rich donors are fully brain poisoned by transphobia to keep it alive
It is endlessly interesting to me how they don't read their own history of electoral success on this issue. You probably don't have a Dem governor of North Carolina without strong protests against that bathroom bill.
Open up the big tent to folks with regressive social values who are fine with tight constraints on abortion so long as it's nominally legal and are juuuust willing to tolerate more socially normative gay folks and this is the kinda stuff you get
Does it get me good attention in the NYT/Atlantic/on fox news is the metric here I suspect.
what matters is 1. they are ridiculously conflict avoidant in the first place, and trans issues requires conflict, fighting, you can't dodge and hide to move forward on it. we know dems hate that shit 2. consultants and strategists that are themselves frequently uncomfortable with trans people
