A lot of people support protest against injustice in the abstract. It's easy to say "of course I would have marched with King, stood against the Vietnam War, and protested Apartheid South Africa." But today, they find any reason to dismiss and disparage protesters. 1/

Let's be real: if you think students pushing through a police line is violence that discredits a whole movement, you would have opposed the movement against the war in Vietnam. You would have supported "nonviolent protest" in the abstract while condemning actual protesters. 2/
