I lost the weight, got down to a BMI that didn't make a doctor tut at me, & my thyroid quit working. Took 2 yrs, gaining back 75lbs, & a new PCP to figure it out. Add PCOS, perimenopause & enough stress to fell a horse & all 124 lbs are back & insurance wants me skinny, but only pays for platitudes.
My British flatmates did this at uni & my very American self was appalled.
I wasn't wearing my glasses, so I read 'paid for by the senate' as 'paid for by Santa' which is a whole different season.

That's the thing, I don't get. My mother is not a well-off boomer. She's a widow, who's husband left her penniless; & is living off my becoming radicalized lefty behind. I don't get my fellow Gen X'rs, we're the sandwich generation because of bad policies from the 80s!
I come from a long line of mixed marriages (dems married to republicans). I feel I saw the light, because my mother encouraged reading & an open mind. Also, as I get older & repeatedly screwed by corporations I become more left progressive. So it bothers me she can't see it.
I feel like she's so close to a breakthrough that Trump is a piece of sh*t, then she reads Facebook or watches FOX News. Her generation does not understand how to spot misinformation. Then again I just got scammed into a cc by a plumber, so my Gen X super powers aren't all seeing. But TFG is sh*t.
Like Tay-tay cares. But hopefully it swings some voters. Then again my mother hates JD Vance, is upset by the lies about Haitians, but still plans to vote for her orange god, so who knows what it takes to break through at this point.
