Anyone else have any issues like this? It's not nearly frequent enough to be a major concern, it rarely persists for more than one shot... I'd like to know if there is a solution, though, or if this is just a goofy totally harmless age-related quirk of an otherwise great system.

Both GS-1s I use will occasionally fail to fire the shutter fully, just barely opening. This only seems to happen when using mup, and doesn't appear to be tied to either body, film back, or and particular lens, it just happens. It's audible and I always know that it happens but it's damn annoying.
