The RSPB used to always object to wind farms in Scotland back in the day, so early 2000s onwards. Then they stopped (2010 ish) because they understood the biggest threat to birds was the climate crisis. Which is absolutely the right approach

That's so well put, thanks Gill. Everything has a downside. The importance is to weigh up those downside risks - and if there's a huge disparity (like this one) then we have a path to follow. For now at least.
