I think the fact the switch and steam deck are from the companies they are matters more to consumers than seeing oems giving it a try after the deck. The gpd win systems that were tiny laptops with controllers were weird but predated the deck, they had so many people curious of them but not buying.

I think a competitor that cant tank losses on the hardware will struggle to do much without anything to have over the deck other than some hardware strength. I dont think a company can make a profit making something straight better than the deck while competitively priced.
