Or - as in my case - the not so young; the average age is Tory voter is over 60, which is simply unsustainable. Sadly these are their target audience, so we get nonsense policies designed to be acceptable to an ever smaller number of wealthy (strangely permanently angry) elderly people.
But sure, go looking for a culture war to fight to convince kids that the Tories are on their side. Nothing matters quite as much to struggling young people as tantrums about the existence of the EU, trans people, or the slave trade. Definitely not tax, public services or opportunities. Crack on.
If I were the Tories I would simply not have ruled like a pack of xenophobic self-interested grifters for over a decade. But failing that, rejoining the European Single Market & allowing Freedom of Movement might get young people to tink that the Tories are not a pack of out-of-touch shills.
