Yeah, that's a difference between an academic setting and a political one. The "understanding history" thing is important, but it's not how you win an election to protect democracy. (And vice versa, obv.)

Though academic isn't quite the scope, I think? As a society, I think it's important to remember that Nazis were human, and that a lot of people are pretty okay with getting swept up in such things. But at the moment, the point is to keep Nazis out of power.
