I'm sad to hear that Tinu is gone... I didn't know Tinu well, but we were mutuals for a while on Twitter and later Mastodon... we didn't interact a lot but we'd had some conversations around disability/COVID related issues on twitter. I know she will be missed by many.
Not super okay, to be honest. The death of a long COVID patient at the hands of a system that has weaponized apathy is already infuriating and unfair. The fact that it happened exactly as Tinu told us it would, the fact that it happened to an advocate like her⌠Ableism kills. She deserved better.
Most people do not understand that disability is a battle of adaptation. Adapting takes resources and none of the specialty items are cheap (not the fault of the manufacturer). So, you adapt or die. Have money or die.
My heart cannot handle how consistently the disability community loses our most powerful voices to situations that amount to "they simply couldn't come up with the money to keep living." This fucking country is a systemically ableist eugenics factory backed by the Healthcare system and the US govt.
Blessed be the memory of Tinu Abayomi-Paul. Activist. Writer. Parent. Daughter. Killed by long covid, cancer, and systems that just donât care enough about the most vulnerable of us. Her powerful legacy lives on. @tinu.bsky.social#rip

Hey friends. If you're having a great time at Flights, please remember, it takes a ton of work, and we're doing it for money. Give us money. We promise to do more great things with it. Thanks!
This is NOT about any one thing. I feel like some people are so stuck in "this is the way things are" that any attempt to suggest alternatives feels like an attack that they need to defend themselves from. Instead of realizing the suggestion wasn't about them individually but the systems we're in.
