If consuming footage of a tragedy is interfering with your day to day life you gotta stop watching it. That’s trauma. You’re going on the computer and self-flagellating like a monk about things you have no control over and it’s incredibly bad for you.

In Catholicism there’s at least a coherent spirituality of how inflicting suffering on oneself adds up to joy and redemption! (Cf Julian of Norwich) Meditating on images of horrific suffering as a secular person on the internet w/ material policy goals lacks a theory of change, as they say.

You merely adopted the sense of shame and guilt etc.
