Wake up nerds, new JWST image of Uranus! Sorry if this is morbid, but I really hope I’m alive by the time we get some Juno-style images of the icy giants Neptune & Uranus 🤩 📸: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI 🔭🧪
These are amazing. I wrote a (terrible) undergrad essay on the outer gas giants in the 1990s, and would have been shocked if I'd known then that nearly 4 decades after V2 at Uranus we'd not sent another robot there.
Look here on my 58 bday, I just want to be alive when Dragonfly makes it to Titan.
Oh gods, me too!
I could live with a Cassini-style probe going there too.
At 59 so do I! How fast can a spacecraft go nowadays?
Voyager 2's Neptune flyby is one of the earliest pieces of astronomy news I remember. It's a shame our closest images of the ice giants are now more than 30 years old.
It’s so pretty! My favorite non-earth planet!
Omg that would be so awesome!!
