Is the retraction a win and final proof of the effectiveness of preregistration? Or proof, once and for all, that open science is all bullshit? Neither. It's just a hugely disappointing error.

Yeah let's be done with that weird framing that does not hold water no matter how you read our critique and the retraction notice. This isn't a win for reform. The issues do not (I emphasize: not at all) reduce down to our ability to read a prereg. Trying to make it so comes across as desperate.

its the clue to start looking at the other one - look at Many Labs 4 next, terrible on more than 1 level / make sure to check Chatard and Haaf's reanalysis
