Stolen from the bad place: Comics skeeters! What's one interaction you've had with a comic book creator that will always stay with you?

I was working and tabling at my first con, and being shy/introverted I’ve never really approached pros other than meeting through friends so nothing really stands out. I’ve met and hit it off with loads of nice folks in comics. Though, my first Chicago con I was tabling with a stack of elf quest -

Years ago, before comics, had the chance to meet Neil Gaiman. I had just read Marvel 1602 and was telling him how much I enjoyed it. Neil then runs out the door drags his then girlfriend Amanda Palmer and proclaims “Amanda this is Sean, Sean is awesome because he likes 1602”.

another @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com one — some event with extra tickets that was apparently attached to a business event — he and hodgeman spoke. I talked to him after, one of my student's had done work for him, he was great — I kept trying to make sure he had his time, he kept pulling me back in.

Darick Robertson convinced me that it was cool to skip out on my first SDCC in the middle of the day to go get sushi and whiskey on the company dime.

I met Peter David at a con in 2006, and we stood around after a panel I had been on for Star Trek that he attended. He seems like just a lovely man and told me about how he'd proposed to his wife. I mostly know him from Trek but have since read a good chunk of his Marvel stuff. Huge talent.

Meeting Giffen and telling him I always considered his layout thinking when writing a page. "I thought you wrote GOOD books," he said. "I never said they SOLD." I replied. He clapped me on the shoulder said "You'll do," and walked off.

i interviewed @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com for Coraline for Premiere dot com (when i was senior editor) wearing the Sandman t-shirt I bought in high school, growing up a baby goth jewish nerd in Dallas, and he was obviously incredibly lovely. most of the interview is lost online.
