I then prompted it to explain what happens with concrete values of this.x, this.y, a and b. It explained "In the simplified code: The first condition checks if a.x is not equal to b.x and if a.x is equal to this.x. Given a.x is 'OT2' and this.x is 'OT1', this condition is not met." WTF?
It then explained "In this simplified version, I first check if x of a and b are different. If they are, I return -1 if a.x equals this.x, otherwise 1. I do the same for y. This reduces the number of conditions checked and makes the code more concise while preserving the original behavior."
The 'simplify this' function in @github.com Copilot is just bad: I asked it to simplify some TypeScript, and it got it completely wrong.
Yeah, it was just the most important part of the new functionality. On the other hand, the code really is simpler now, and I can (have to!) delete some tests too, which simplifies things even more!
I just started experimenting with @github.com Copilot in IntelliJ. First impression: surprisingly bad! “Simplify this” on JavaScript code removed 90% of the code I had just added to implement a new feature, explaining that it was complex “and not necessary for the main functionality”.

Ich habe die WP auf WW 52C von 14-15 Uhr eingestellt, sonst 43, mit etwas Erhöhung bei PV-Überschuss. Das funktioniert sogar bei den aktuellen Minustemperaturen gut. Die WP macht alle 2-3 Tage WW. Ende November fand die WPSM-Kontrolle statt: die Einstellungen waren sinnvoll, die WP im grünen Bereich
