I’ve never understood why Cowdenbeath got the name, is there a reason you know of?

There are varying stories and beliefs about that particular origin. Being from Fife I am of the opinion that is firmly a sarcastic nickname that was then fully embraced by the 'cowdend faithful. Which is very Fife as F-ck
